New Delhi. Police has filed a status report in the court on the investigation into allegations of alleged sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The police told the court that the confessional statements of all the complainant wrestlers have been recorded. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) of Rouse Avenue Court Harjeet Singh Jaspal adjourned the hearing to June 27 while directing the police to give a copy of the status report to the complainant wrestlers.
On the other hand, a petition has been filed in the Patiala House Court for making allegations of sexual harassment against the head of WFI. The matter will be heard in the court on June 9. Police has also been asked to investigate the matter and file a status report. Appropriate legal action has been sought by filing a criminal complaint against wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang and Sakshi Malik for allegedly alleging sexual harassment of the WFI president and using abusive language against the Prime Minister.
On May 10, the court had asked the police to investigate and file a status report against the BJP MP. The wrestlers have filed a petition demanding a court-monitored probe. Along with this, a demand has been made to give information about the steps taken for the investigation.
The wrestlers had earlier moved the Supreme Court seeking registration of an FIR against the BJP MP. The police had then informed the apex court that investigation was being done by registering an FIR and recording statements of witnesses. The Supreme Court, while closing the matter, had asked to provide security to the complainants as per the earlier directions. It was also said that for any other relief, the petitioners can approach the concerned Judicial Magistrate’s Court or the High Court.
